I developed a series of ten bitmap icons relating to the study of birds. Embodying a playful aesthetic, I designed them to be used in an educational app that provides fun imagery while teaching kids about ornithology. When stylizing the icons I looked at games with 8-bit and 16-bit graphics like the Pokémon series and Tamagotchi. I was inspired by their animal-like sprites which appeal to kids and I translated this style into my own icons.
